Go Big Red (Shed)

There is nothing quite like Madison during a Badger Game.  The hustle and bustle of Regent Street and the endless sea of red is enough to make any Badger fan smile.  While getting together with friends to watch the big game is exciting, trying to determine what to bring to the tailgate can cause a headache.

Luckily, Timber Hill Winery has made determining your dish to pass easy with Antler Shed Red.  Not only is the name a perfect fit for Badger game day, but it also is sure to please the whole tailgate party.

Antler Shed Red is a rich blend of Frontenac, Foch, and Marquette grape varietals.  The three of these combined create a unique flavor unlike many other red blends.  Frontenac is a cold hardy hybrid that was created by the University of Minnesota.  The flavors of cherry and red fruits that are characteristic of the grape make it great for red blends or even a fortified wine(port style).  Foch is a French grape varietal that has more black fruit notes and even a hint of mocha and bitterness.  Marquette, like it’s cousin Frontenac, comes from the University of Minnesota and is also a grandchild of Pinot Noir. Marquette can often be a bolder red with notes of black pepper and berries.  All three of the grapes blend well together to create the perfect red blend. It pairs perfectly with tailgate foods, like burgers and brats, or your more upscale at home grilling parties with steak and even venison.
