How to Make Sangria: A Sip of Summer in Every Glass

Looking for tips on how to make sangria? Sangria is the perfect summer drink that’s fruity, refreshing, and easy to make! Whether you’re hosting friends on the patio or enjoying a quiet evening in the sunshine, sangria is a crowd-pleaser that’s customizable and packed with flavor. Here’s everything you need to know to create your own delicious batch.

Basic Sangria Ingredients:

  • 1 bottle of wine (red, white, or rosé – we love using Timber Hill wines like DelawareWI Frontenac, or Marquette Rosé)

  • 1–2 cups chopped fruit (citrus, berries, apples, peaches – the more colorful, the better!)

  • 1–2 tablespoons sugar or honey (to taste)

  • 1–2 cups sparkling water, lemon-lime soda, or ginger ale (added just before serving)

  • Ice for serving

How to Make Sangria:

  1. Chop your fruit – Slice oranges, lemons, apples, and berries into bite-sized pieces.

  2. Mix it up – In a large pitcher, combine your bottle of wine, fruit, and sweetener. Stir well to blend.

  3. Chill – Let it sit in the fridge for at least 2–4 hours. This lets the flavors mingle and the fruit soak up all that wine-y goodness.

  4. Serve & Sparkle – Just before serving, add your bubbly mixer and stir gently. Pour over ice and garnish with a few extra pieces of fruit.
